Hi Kathy, I just got around to reading ur article in the Innovation today. As I enter my eigth year as a female practicing engineer, I have struggled with gender equality throughout. I currently am on a team of 18 engineers of which only 2 are women. I am still considered an intermediate engineer while my male counterparts with similar work experience and less education (i have a master’s) are considered senior engineers. Unfortunately, the “boy’s club” mentality is still quite prominant. I’m not sure what can be done, but I appreciate the work you are doing to bring the issue to the forefront. Thanks.
Thank you for your comment – I am so sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties but maybe we can make a difference. I am hopeful! Hang in there!
I am one of the “old” boys trying to make some changes. It’s hard slogging to transform a profession to be inclusive. We need more help from the other old boys. We need to do this ….. it is the just thing to do …..
Couldn’t do it without men like you who recognize the value of including everyone who is talented and clever enough to be an engineer! Thank you for being an ally!
