Education is about more than learning in a classroom. It is about sharing experiences, discovering new ways to create knowledge, bringing everything we are to all we do. It is about being our best version of ourselves, that person we aspire to be.
The Edge Project is a series of creative, interactive and inspiring products for exploring the edge of our understanding of behaviours influences culture. Each product presents evidence-based knowledge in different ways, each developed specially to appeal to a broad audience, such as:
- strategic facilitation for boards, c-suite, executive leaders and workgroups (volunteer or professional)
- online group training sessions
- interactive presentations (virtual live or in-person)
- online or in-person workshops of varying lengths
- opportunities for disseminating knowledge
- virtual meetups
- social impact activities
- online course development and delivery for post-secondary educational programs (especially for engineering)

Katherina specializes in change management, instilling belonging through inclusion and the pursuit of one’s passion. Her experience includes projects in academia, and medium and large corporations; she is in demand as a public speaker.

Katherina specializes in change management, instilling belonging through inclusion and the pursuit of one’s passion.
Dr. Katherina Tarnai-Lokhorst, P.Eng., FEC, FGC(hon), an award-
winning social science researcher and educator of mechanical
engineering, is a passionate leader in self-regulation and policy.
Katherina’s technical specializations include aircraft design,
manufacturing processes and project management.
Dedicated to creating an increasingly inclusive culture in
engineering, Katherina applies her mastery of
interdisciplinary studies by developing policies and
delivering workshops & presentations that instil learners at all
levels with a deep understanding of the impact of technology on
society and a passion to make the world a better place for all.
Katherina’s epic project, The Edge, is the culmination of her research
and of her experiences working in a paternalistic culture. As a series
of vignettes, blog posts and infographics, The Edge helps readers to
explore the edge of their understanding of how their behaviour
affects others, and learn how to change that behaviour in order to
foster more inclusive cultures in the workplace and beyond.
In her free time, Katherina plays with her husband, her kids and her grandkids, and performs
with her jazz trio

David Lokhorst, M.A.Sc., Principal
David specializes in engineering management for companies with emerging technology. His executive and product development expertise encompasses large scale batteries, sensor technologies and robotics.

David is passionate about bringing new technology to market. He seeks the intersection of
market needs and technological capability,
and leads teams to develop the
products that satisfy those needs.
David was head of research and development at the leading global manufacturer of
large-scale maritime propulsion batteries, where he was responsible for several award-winning products
created through his leadership in managing intellectual property,
research & development, testing, safety and regulatory compliance.
Other experiences include leading product development departments for industrial electric motors,
medical devices, control systems, and outdoor robots for hazardous environments.
David has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from
the University of British Columbia
and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Toronto where he studied robotics and control.
He holds more than a dozen patents spanning lithium ion battery systems,
medical devices, robotics and control systems.
David is co-founder of the Lokhorst Group and currently constrains his contributions to an advisory capacity as he
leads his engineering team at Corvus Energy.
